The North Face FuseForm Brigandine 3L Pant
The North Face's FuseForm Brigandine 3L Pant is a 3-layer, waterproof/breathable HyVent shell designed for all skiers who want to stay dry and who seek a technical, big mountain look. As part of the Steep Series, Brigandine Pant is engineered with award-winning FuseForm construction, which allows fabric to transition seamlessly from Codura Nylon used on high-abrasion zones to four-way stretch material on flex zones. This reduces weight and increases performance and comfort, for more added protection and more fun in the backcountry. Inner thigh zip vents allow you to easily regulate heat, especially when touring, and reinforced cuffs with a stretch boot gaiter add extra durability.

The North Face’s FuseForm™ Technology differs from the traditional method of stitching and then taping a seam to create and waterproof a piece of clothing. Instead, it involves a special (and top secret) manufacturing technique that weaves two fabrics together, fusing them into one single fabric. This actually makes garments more durable, as well as lighter and more comfortable. And, of course, keeps out water and snow.
HyVent® is The North Face’s version of Gore-Tex and is a rigorously tested, durable, weatherproof fabric. It works by combining a polyurethane (PU) outer layer with a porous, breathable membrane, which contains tiny micro-pores small enough to let water vapour out but not big enough to let water droplets in. This type of fabric is great for climbing and skiing, where the combination of rough weather and hard work requires a one way form of moisture transference. HyVent® 3-layer fabric is constructed in the same way as the 2-layer fabric: a durable, waterproof outer layer and an polyurethane coated inner layer, but bonded to a softer inner lining which is specially designed to wick water vapour away from your skin and through to the outer layer of fabric.
Four-way stretch fabric has been engineered to stretch both lengthways and crossways, compared to standard two-way stretch fabrics, which are elasticated either one or the other. Usually implemented by by adding spandex or elastane to the fabric, it gives you a wider range of movement and comfort by moving with your body and allowing for more coverage when you’re moving around a lot.
Jacket to Pants Attachment interface
All The North Face snow-wear features a simple system that allows you to attach the powder skirt of your jacket to the waistband of your pants. This means less snow in your clothes and more fun in the powder!
